Why should I vote yes?
The purpose of FAMF is to provide a baseline amount of funding to ensure that students have easy access to a plethora of services and opportunities. The hope of the fee (and more broadly everything the ESS offers) is to try make you a better student, better future engineer, and to enjoy your engineering education here at the University of Alberta.
FAMF achieves this across a diverse range of goals. Whether it be social events, professional development, student groups, discipline clubs, and more, FAMF enables students to get involved and cater the engineering experience that they personally want.
FAMF does not cover general operational expenses of the ESS and only covers the operational costs of certain initiatives/events as illustrated in What is changing and why?. We believe that FAMF should represent the bare minimum level of opportunities that the ESS will provide to students assuming that the ESS otherwise is in a financial poor spot.
We encourage you to consider voting in favor of the fee because it will provide you and your engineering colleagues with many opportunities to get involved, have fun, and to become a better engineer.
