Who is the ESS?
The Engineering Students’ Society (ESS) is a volunteer-run non-profit organization with the sole responsibility of representing and providing services and other opportunities for the engineering undergraduate student body at the University of Alberta. We were founded in 1920 and over the years, have evolved and matured into the massive organization we are today.
Various services and opportunities are hosted and spread throughout the engineering student body by the ESS. Examples include:
The EnggLink
GEER Week
Engineering Carnival
Career Fair
Above this, the ESS represents the interests of all engineering students to the Faculty of Engineering, the University itself, the Students’ Union, and the general public. Our purpose is to make the engineering experience as good as can be and we will do whatever it takes to achieve this.
The ESS is headed by an elected executive team and overseen by a Board of Directors, all of which are elected by various student bodies within engineering. The executive team oversees the various departments which house our amazing volunteers who make everything we do possible.
