Sebastian Miranda

President Candidate

What previous experience do you have with running meetings, participating in board meetings, and leading a team, and/or why do you think you would be good for this role?

In Grade 8, I was the youngest executive of my school's Youth Club. By Grade 10, I became vice president of the organization despite still being the youngest executive. I ran all of the logistics, food orders, managed the budget and had the largest events in school history.

In Grade 12, I was the captain of my school's boarding program. I ran weekly events and competitions, met with staff to improve student life and ran monthly banquets with over 100 people.

I'm excited to use my strong background in community building and enacting change to make our first year the best that it can be.

What are some of your goals for the FYEC this year if you are elected?

I'm hoping to bring a larger number of events than in the past and balance them out within low points on the engineering schedule to get as many people to come! Previous years' FYEC has run some amazing event ideas, so expanding and re-running some of those will be a focus, along with some new events.

I'm hoping we can bring a competitive team to GEER week and try for a top 5 finish this year and have as much fun as we can while we do it
