President Portfolio

 The President represents the ESS to the Students, SU, Faculty, University, and public. They also manage the Executive Committee. For more information about position responsibilities and qualifications, see the documents linked in the application form.

Executive Assistant

The Executive Assistant is responsible for recording minutes of the ESS Board of Directors meetings, ESS Senior Executive meetings and Dean’ meetings. They work closely with the President to ensure all correspondence and meeting minutes are up-to-date, and sent to the appropriate parties.

Board of Director (BoD) Chair

The Chair is responsible for organizing and running monthly Board of Director meetings. They must be familiar with the Engineering Students’ Society (ESS) Bylaws and Policy.

Chief Returning Officer (CRO)

The Chief Returning Officer (CRO) is responsible for organizing elections and by-elections for the ESS. This includes hosting the Candidates’ Meeting and Elections Forum. They must be familiar with the Engineering Students’ Society (ESS) Bylaws and Policy and must not have been directly involved with the ESS for the past two academic years.

Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)

The Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) is responsible for assisting the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) with organizing elections and by-elections for the ESS. This includes hosting the Candidates’ Meeting and Elections Forum. They must be familiar with the Engineering Students’ Society (ESS) Bylaws and Policy and must not have been directly involved with the ESS for the past two academic years.

Director of Research & Advocacy

The Director of Research & Advocacy will lead the background advocacy work for the ESS. This will include working closely with the President and VP Academics & Services to draft reports and letters, research and draft policy, and guide the Engineering Restructuring Advocacy Group (ERAG).

Strategic Advisor

Assists the President with specific delegated tasks and serves as a sounding board for ideas and initiatives.

Research & Advocacy Coordinator

The Research & Advocacy Coordinator will assist in the background advocacy work for the ESS. This will include working closely with the Director of Research & Advocacy to draft reports and letters, research and draft policy, and guide the Engineering Restructuring Advocacy Group (ERAG).
