About us

I am Naya Veljkovic-Nychka (She/Her), running with Noah as Co-VP of Student Life! With leadership experience from years of competitive volleyball and a passion for community, I want to create fun, inclusive events that bring Mechatronics students together and make student life more enjoyable.

I am Abby Berghuys, and I’m passionate about making campus life more inclusive, engaging, and memorable for all students. I love bringing people together and creating opportunities for everyone to feel connected and heard

Student First

Our main priority in all our decisions is you, so all of our choices will reflect what the members of the club want. We hope to achieve this through:

• Directly consult with members to better understand needs and wants

• Expansion of the discipline Discord, ensuring all members have joined

• Establishing a Discord channel where suggestions can be made

• Creating and maintaining a dynamic club room

Geer Week

The goal for gear week is to win… but more realistically to ensure we aren’t dead last (high hopes, we know). We can achieve this by:

• Making sure we get as many people as possible involved

• Leading an outreach program to fill different teams

• Creating a google form for participation in each of the events

• Starting practice/rehearsals as soon as possible

• Ensuring a welcoming environment for all Mechatronics students

Events

Our priority for events is to ensure that everyone feels included and has the opportunity to take part. Additionally, we want to host events that you want to attend, so we will be taking as many ideas and as much feedback as possible!

Initial Event Ideas:

• Mixer at RATT (Room At The Top)

• Industry Night (guest speaker on Mechatronics careers)

• Wii Golf Competition

• Scavenger Hunt

• Sports Tournament

• Fantasy Hockey League

• Trivia Night

Safety

Safety will be a top priority at all events, it is key to keeping things enjoyable. We will ensure that all necessary safety measures and forms are completed to ensure that every event goes as smoothly as possible.
